Megan O’Leary
BSc(Psych) | PostGradDip(Psych) | MProfPsych | MAPS
Megan is a registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).
Megan has experience working across a broad range of services, including private practice, community mental health and hospital settings, and has experience working with a variety of clients across the lifespan.
Megan has a particular interest in working with women over the age of 16 and has done further training in perinatal mental health care. Megan is passionate about working with women in the perinatal period (from trying to conceive to 12 months postpartum) and during early parenthood, assisting clients to navigate the challenges that can accompany these phases of life including stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, loss/change of identity, relationship issues and grief and loss.
Megan also has a strong interest in working with adolescents and young adults (aged 16+) who are experiencing challenges with work/study stress, life transitions, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, identity and self-esteem issues and grief and loss.
Megan employs a collaborative, client-centered and evidence-based approach to treatment, while providing a safe, compassionate and non-judgement environment for clients. Megan provides an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a number of frameworks including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, in order to find the best approach to fit with the individual needs of the client.

Sliding Doors Psychology provides individual counselling for adolescents (aged 16+) and adults, with a particular interest in women’s mental health. Sessions go for 50 minutes and are available both in person at our clinic rooms in South Yarra or via telehealth.

During the first 1-2 sessions the focus is on getting to know the client and understanding their goals for therapy. In subsequent sessions, treatment is tailored to the needs and goals of each individual client.
Confidentiality
Everything discussed in sessions is kept confidential and will not be shared with a third party without the client's consent.
There are a few legal limits to confidentiality. These include serious safety concerns or if subpoenaed by a court.
If there is a legal requirement to breach confidentiality, a discussion will be had with the client prior to any action being taken.

The clinic currently runs on Saturdays between the hours of 12:30pm-4:30pm. Both face to face and telehealth appointments are available.
Fees and Rebates

- Business Hours (9am-5pm) $220
- After Hours (5pm or later) $240
- Saturdays and Public Holidays $240
Payments are taken on the day from a stored payment method. You will be asked to provide payment details and written consent ahead of your first appointment.
Our fees are guided by the Australian Psychological Society.
The Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for a 50 minute session with a Psychologist is currently $300 (1st of July 2023- 30th of June 2024).

Medicare
Medicare will provide a rebate of $93.35 if you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).
A MHCP can be obtained through your GP and provides medicare card holders with 10 subsidised sessions with a Psychologist each calendar year.
Please note that payments are taken in full. We will then submit a claim to medicare on your behalf, who will deposit the rebate into your medicare nominated bank account.
Private Health Insurance
Please check with your insurance provider to see if Psychology is covered in your plan and your level of cover.
Please note that medicare and private health insurance cannot be used for the same session.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide 48 hours notice otherwise the full session fee will be charged. Missed appointments without contact will also incur the full session fee.
